Sports Interactive to appear at 2024 Black Tech Fest
East London studio works with Ukie to feature in BTF’s first Gaming Lounge

Sports Interactive are delighted to announce that we'll be appearing at Black Tech Fest (BTF) 2024.

Organised by Colorintech and first run in 2020, BTF is Europe’s largest technology and culture festival celebrating innovation and inclusion in the UK tech industry and beyond.

BTF 2024, scheduled to be held on 10 October at Drumsheds, London, will feature a dedicated Gaming Lounge for the first time in addition to a series of panel talks and workshops. Our involvement marks the next step in our commitment to championing diversity, collaboration and inclusivity.

In conjunction with Ukie, SI will have a stand run by our internal Diversity@SI group. This will be a vehicle for people to talk to studio members about both Football Manager and the experience of being an individual from a diverse background in the gaming industry.

Jaden Palmer-Leandre, Software Engineer at SI, said: “Having followed Black Tech Fest for years, watching their excellent work from afar, we at Diversity@SI are extremely excited to be a part of it now this year. We look forward to meeting and speaking to all the attendees.

“Kish Hirani, who runs BiG, brought the opportunity to be involved with the Gaming Lounge to us and it appealed straight away. 90% of BTF attendees identify as Black and 63% identify as Female, so this is a fantastic opportunity for us to speak to people from diverse backgrounds about our work and the wider industry.

“Ukie have been fantastic through this process too and their support is enormously appreciated. We're very proud of the work we have done in the Diversity and Inclusion space and are pleased to see it recognised. We now can’t wait to use that platform to engage with as many of this year’s attendees as possible.”

In addition to running a stand in the Gaming Lounge, SI will be running a panel hosted by our friends at Nnesaga. They will be asking three of our team members what it’s like to go “From Players to Creators”.
